Pixter Scanner OCR Document App Reviews

App is worthless

Bought it, opened it, attempted to scan a single page of text and the app couldnt even recognize a single sentence. Waste of money and time.

Doesnt work

Very inefficient in changing typed papers into digital text. I wont even get into handwriting because it either doesnt fully process or crashes the app entirely. Dont pay for this app, it is not effective.

Dont expect high

It is good at reading plain print text without any form, otherwise it is nothing.

New Pixter App is Awesome!

The new update greatly improves this app. It is fast and accurate. I have no complaints. I am using this app on my iPhone 6 Plus and it works flawlessly. Thanks a lot guys good job.

Great app

This app helped me a ton with my Spanish classes where I needed the entire page translated!

Was Working But Now Error-Riddled

Got this to scan reading material for my sight-impaired mother. It worked very well in the beginning but just now, it is filled with typos and skips over chunks of texts. I see that it hasnt been updated since Nov. 2014. If this isnt corrected Ill be looking for another app.

Terrible OCR

Terrible OCR. Even the dummy document included in the setup instructions wasnt scanned to text correctly. Try Scannable by Evernote, Microsoft Office Lens, Scanbot, or FineScanner by ABBYY instead.

Worked great, once

The first image I scanned worked really well. Since then, every time Ive tried to use it, it scans the image, says its "Done", then it crashes.

Needs some features for price

Not the best ocr, Ive tried. Simple and great that it lets you edit the ocr. Im using it for collecting exam notes from books into one or two digital documents. I really wish there was an easy way to combine ocr results in one doc and upload a batch at a time instead of how long it takes to upload each page individually. The price was more than other apps for what it delivers.

Perfect for the job!

Oh I want the perfect font size, the perfect font style, and I want complex tables to have all the numbers in them - this is not going to happen – not even with the $500 desktop optical character recognition program. But, if you have a document with text on it, and you want the text to be recognized - this app is awesome – simple – and intuitive – perfect for the job!

Rotate problems

When rotating, the crop box does not allow complete coverage of document! Why? Useless for this reason. Also rotate has no fixed degree or snapping. Why?

Doesnt scan properly, translation is incomprehensible

I try to scan a full page. While it takes the picture it is not able to perform OCR let alone translate anything. If I focus on a paragraph by cropping, I receive a translation which is absolutely unusable. Worthless, but you only find out after you spent the money. A honest proposition would be let you try it for free (e.g. 10x) and then make you pay for it, if it works for you. DONT BUY IT!!!

Huge time saver

Reads text well, and fast. Copy paste and email it to my typesetting computer and Im off running way faster that reading and typing everything.

Great App but...

This is definitely a great app but i think is missing a few things; lets say new features like get a bunch of scans and create a book that way when you export, you have the ability to create a book into ibooks without create a page by page using software like adobe acrobat reader to put it together i think will be owesome to do that in just one step. And i think be able to go to next scan within and not to come back select the next page in order to continue reading just to save time jeje and one more thing when fixing misspelling the cursor almost blend with the background if you add the ability to a custom background color will be great. But so far so good. Please developers add those features and i will give you 10 stars literally.

Finally catching up to its potential.

One of the things that has held this amp back is none of its fault: A lack of high resolution. I switched recently to iPhone 6s, and now the OCR works very well most of the time. There are caveats: text must be very clean, and have no stray marks. The language conversion on some languages is better than others-- French seems to work better than German, for instance.

Used to work but not anymore

This application used to work but now it doesnt give any useful output. Please update and rectify the issues.

Crashes, crashes, crashes!

I regret getting this app. Cant use it because it always crashes before I can do anything (this problem increased after the update). The app is super slow to a point it gets very annoying. Still crashes even after update!!

Best OCR Ive ever found.

Works like a champ on my iPhone 6s. Take a picture, crop, it converts to text. Very, very easy. Very little editing if any needed to use text anywhere you need it.

Poor performance

Upon opening the app the sample image they provide was read incorrectly. It seems that you have to be very close to the letters to have better results and even then the software does a poor job.
